Jake Paul fell from the World Boxing Association cruiserweight rankings following his sixth-round knockout defeat to Anthony Joshua last month.

The YouTuber was stopped by the former two-time heavyweight champion during a scheduled eight-round fight in Miami, where Joshua scored four knockdowns before the referee stopped the fight in the sixth round. Paul suffered a broken jaw in two places and required surgery after the fight.

Paul (12-2, 7 KOs) entered at No. 14 in the WBA cruiserweight rankings in July after defeating Julio César Chávez Jr by unanimous decision in Anaheim, California. He was ranked 15th prior to the Joshua fight, although the fight was at heavyweight and had no ranking implications in that division.

The defeat was Paul’s first loss since his split decision loss to Tommy Fury in 2023 and ended his brief run in the WBA top 15.

Joshua, who was returning after a knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in September 2024, said afterward that his goal was to “pin [Paul] fall and hurt him.”
