James ‘Politically Targeted’ Trump and He’s Doing Likewise

On CNN’s “The Source” Thursday, CNN senior legal analyst and former prosecutor Elie Honig said the case brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James (D), “brought against Donald Trump, was unquestionably politically targeted.” And “the fact that Letitia James targeted Donald Trump in civil proceedings in no way justifies Donald Trump now targeting Letitia James in criminal proceedings.”
Honig began by saying he would not have filed a lawsuit because of the “tiny” amounts involved and that the $18,000 in alleged profit is a smaller amount than he has ever seen in a mortgage fraud case.
He later said: “Letitia’s case against Donald Trump was unquestionably politically targeted. It backfired politically. It helped push Donald Trump to the Republican nomination. It backfired legally. Just a month ago, a New York appeals court overturned most of the verdict. They threw out the dollar amount and reduced to zero. However, this is a very important point, the fact that Letitia James targeted Donald Trump. civilly does not in any way justify or justify that Donald Trump is now targeting Letitia James criminally. It’s a concept a six-year-old can understand: two wrongs don’t make a right. And, by the way, all this back and forth will work in favor of Letitia James’ strategic advantage in the courtroom, because she’s absolutely going to present a vindictive or selective prosecution case, and she can just introduce all this evidence from the story between them. And I think she will As a result, we have a very good motion to defeat here.
