The Miami Marlins are on a sequence of seven consecutive victories entering Wednesday, but are largely considered to be out of the playoff race as the deadline of trade. Their biggest commercial chip, the launcher leaving Sandy Alcántara, struggled when he returned from Tommy John surgery in October 2023.
However, the leaders of the MLB told the former director of the MLB, Jim Bowden of athletics, they always expect him to be exchanged.

Bowden interviewed more than 40 leaders, and the most common response was Alcántara despite its 6.98 MPM.
Alcántara is under contract until next season with a team option for an additional year in 2027. The former Cy Young winner missed all last season by recovering from Tommy John surgery, and started this season by wearing an 8.31 MPM in May, throwing doubts on its commercial potential.
Alcántara would rebound in June, granting three points deserved or less in four of his five departures last month. This has aroused continuous interest in the leaders of the League, in particular those looking for the start of pitching to add the section.
“I doubt that the marlins get the value required for him if they now translated it,” wrote Bowden. “Instead, they could wait for the offseason to cash, maybe after having a strong August and September.”
The marlins should be breathtaking to exchange their AS during the season, and they may not receive the package they want in return if they set up on the deadline.
The next two departures of Alcántara leading to the deadline of trade could influence the decision of the marlins and increase its price for potential contenders if it continues to switch to the upper form.
