Vice President JD Vance told Salem Radio Network host Scott Jennings on Tuesday that the Trump administration is studying “the entire network” of organizations that support left-wing violence.

President Donald Trump declared Antifa a domestic terrorist organization in a September 17 article on Truth Social, a week after the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk at an event at Utah Valley University. Vance told Jennings that the administration would not just stop at those who threw bricks at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents or attacked conservatives. “It’s not just people committing violence, Scott, I mean, look for every person who throws a brick at an ICE officer or shoots a conservative commentator, there’s a whole network behind it,” Vance told Jennings. “Who brought the brick? Who paid? Who are the networks, the violence that really supports this stuff, that ferments this stuff? How are people radicalized, if not the really crazy rhetoric that we see coming from certain corners of the far left?”

“You know, Scott, even after Charlie was shot, there were people celebrating, saying he deserved it,” Vance continued. “This is all part of a web of left-wing violence. It’s not just the person who pulls the trigger, it’s all the people who support it and allow it to be radicalized in the first place.”

During the 2024 presidential campaign, Trump survived two assassination attempts, one at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, the other while playing a round of golf in Florida. Ryan Wesley Routh, charged in the Sept. 15 assassination attempt, declared his intention to kill Trump in a letter, according to court documents.

“We have a very aggressive task force right now trying to stamp out this left-wing political violence, trying to find out who is funding some of these crazy things, trying to find out who is buying the bricks that these people are throwing at ICE agents and I think that’s going to bear real fruit,” Vance said. “Obviously it takes time, but I think the American people should expect their government to respond to this situation. »

ICE facilities in Chicago and Portland, Oregon, have been the sites of several riots as resistance to the agency’s efforts targeting undocumented immigrants has intensified during President Donald Trump’s second term. During an ICE operation in Chicago, agents were attacked by several attackers who used vehicles to ram cars used by the agency.

Prior to these events, the Department of Homeland Security stated in a September 26 article on X that there had been several violent assaults on an ICE facility in Broadview, Illinois. In Portland, Oregon, left-wing rioters reportedly attacked conservative journalists covering the unrest and intended to use lasers against planes operated by federal law enforcement. Two people were killed in a shooting at an ICE office in Dallas on September 24, with the shooter committing suicide. In Texas, there have been at least two previous cases of shootings targeting ICE or Border Patrol sites in July, with ten people charged in connection with the event in Alvarado, Texas.

ICE agents were also targeted while conducting enforcement operations in Illinois and California.
