Former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said she regrets “nothing” while serving in the Biden administration when pressed on MSNBC on Saturday.

Jean-Pierre appeared on MSNBC’s “The Weekend: Primetime” to continue his recent media tour promoting his new book, “Independent.” Towards the end of the segment, co-host Ayman Mohyeldin asked him if there was anything Jean-Pierre regretted saying on behalf of former President Joe Biden.

After briefly hesitating to answer, Mohyeldin immediately responded, “It’s just a simple yes or no.”

“No, no, no, no, because you are asking a yes or no question,” Jean-Pierre insisted. “I also want to put it in context. I woke up every day, very proud to be the White House press secretary. I woke up every day as a queer black woman, that no one had ever seen someone like me at that podium, standing behind that lectern. It was an honor and a privilege to have this job, and I did it to the best of my ability. And I spoke on behalf of the President of the United States, a person that I consider to be a person honest.”

She continued: “We didn’t do everything right. Nobody says we did everything right. Nobody says that. But we did it to the best of our ability. And I worked very hard to do this job. And so I want to put things in context. And, as you know, on the podium, you don’t answer yes or no.”

“We were hoping you would do it now that you are speaking for yourself and you are no longer on the podium,” Mohyeldin said.

“Look, I was very proud of everything I did. So I’m not taking anything back. I was really proud of everything I did. Again, we didn’t do everything right,” Jean-Pierre responded.

Earlier in the interview, she defended her comments on administration policies, even when they turned out to be wrong or controversial.

“I appreciate the question, because one thing I really want to clarify is that I was speaking on behalf of the president,” Jean-Pierre said. “That’s the job of the White House press secretary. I’m not speaking on behalf of Karine Jean-Pierre. I was speaking on behalf of Joe Biden. That’s the case for all White House press officers. That’s their job.”

“What I’m saying is that my reality was this: My reality was someone I saw every day, who was sharp, who pushed, his team, who understood the politics of the story very clearly. That’s what I saw,” Jean-Pierre said.
