Jermaine Johnson underwent a long recovery process after having torn his Achilles.

The professional of the Pro Bowl was finally activated from the list physically unable to play last Sunday after 11 months of rehabilitation and try to return to the training field.

Johnson is looking forward to coming back, but understands that the jets want to be careful.

“I feel ready to leave, but I trust them,” said Johnson. “As I like to say, they support the Ferrari truck a little cautiously right now. So I understand it, but I’m ready to leave.”

Last season, Johnson sought to rely on his solid second -year campaign when he recorded 7.5 bags and was appointed to Pro Bowl to replace. But in week 2, he tore his Achilles in a victory against the Titans and missed the rest of the season.

The most difficult part for Johnson was to see his teammates suffer during a 5-12 campaign, who saw his trainer, Robert Saleh, and the director general, Joe Douglas, both licensed.

“Knowing the kind of player I am, teammate I am, what a difference that I could have made …” said Johnson, highlighting all the nearby Gang Green lost matches. “I can’t do anything about it. So it was probably the most difficult thing.

“I like to use this metaphor, the journey being a mountain and you are in the car and you have a highway that goes there. Many guys focus on the mountain,” shit, it’s a long road. It will take an eternity. “I just looked at the scratches on the floor pass and only one strip after the other, understanding this very soon, I was going to reach the mountain.

This offseason, the jets have made several key changes, including a new coach to Aaron Glenn, a new managing director of Darren Mougey, a new defensive coordinator of Steve Wilks and a brand new defensive program. Some players are concerned about their future when a new diet arrives.

However, Glenn expressed his confidence in Johnson after being his defensive coordinator during the senior Bowl 2022 before the jets chose him in the first round. This was one of the reasons why Glenn and the Jets exercised his fifth year option on his recruit contract in April.

“He hasn’t lost time when he arrived here, letting me know how excited he is to coach me and how much he expects me,” said Johnson. “I was just as excited to let him know that these standards will be respected or exceeded.

“So I am excited.”

Before Johnson was authorized for activity, he was actively present at the installation of jets, working to return to the field. He also assumed a leadership role after the jets had a movement for young people during the offseason under Glenn and Mougey.

“Preach standard and techniques,” said Johnson about what the leader means for him.

“I had excellent veterinarians. I had a CJ CAJ [Mosley]I had John Franklin-Myers, I had guys who showed me that it was what he should look like, and it is my chance to pay and show them in a way. So I am delighted to get off the puppy and go out and show them, because I am a big believer. I show the example, and I will finally do it.

Now the question is, when will Johnson be ready to train? He has been on the ground since he was eliminated by doctors, but Johnson does an individual work on the side while his teammates participate in team exercises.

The opening of the Jets season against the Steelers and the former teammate Aaron Rodgers is in three weeks. There can sometimes be a period of acclimatization when a player returns from an Achilles tear, but Johnson does not believe to apologize.

“In my opinion, I had a cheating code in my leg now,” he said. “I have a strong Achilles, so I’m faster now.”

However, Glenn and the jets staff have a plan for Johnson that they keep between them.

“We want to bring him at the right time, and we don’t want to rush this player, and we have a plan for him,” said Glenn about Johnson. “It’s something between me, Zuff [Jets head athletic trainers Dave Zuffelato]Moug [Mougey]And himself that we will continue to talk about.

“Listen, I said to him, it’s not week 1, it’s not week 2, this is the longevity of his career, and we want to make sure that we do a good job and we make sure that we do it with him. I say to each player who comes back from an injury, we have a plan for them and we are sure to follow the protocol to ensure that this plan works.”
