Jimmy Kimmel’s return to television on Tuesday came with high expectations – and on the basis of the reaction that his monologue received online, it seems that it is more than respected.

The return monologue of the late evening host broke a record on his YouTube channel, has become his most seen youtube monologue for all time after it was put online. At the time of writing, the video is close to 20 million views. The monologue most watched by Kimmel, an eight -year -old clip in which he delivers an emotional discourse on his son’s heart surgery, currently has 14 million views.

Kimmel’s show was suspended last week after comments he made on the right reaction to the murder of Charlie Kirk. His monologue aroused criticism from the President of the FCC appointed by Trump, Brendan Carr, who threatened Kimmel’s ABC network during an appearance in the podcast. Shortly after, Nexstar, who has several ABC affiliates and currently requests the approval of the Trump administration for an upcoming merger, made the decision to withdraw Kimmel from his stations. ABC, belonging to Disney, then announced that they “suspended” Kimmel’s program – indefinitely suspended – a decision that the company spilled at the start of this week, following the pressure from celebrities and customers canceling their Disney + subscriptions to protest.
