Joe Scarborough Drops Fact Check On Democrat After He Pushes Baseless Theory About Trump-Epstein

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough repeatedly called out Massachusetts Democratic Rep. Seth Moulton’s apparent lack of evidence when the congressman alleged that President Donald Trump had ties to late child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
Some Democrats have speculated that the president was named in cases related to the notorious pedophile — particularly in recent months. Moulton, during his Friday morning appearance on “Morning Joe,” claimed that Democrats sought to help “working people in America” while Trump supported the “billionaire class” — before making Epstein-related allegations that surprised Scarborough. “Democrats are here to help the workers of America, and Republicans are here to protect the billionaire class. And you see it over and over again from this White House, you know, if you’re a criminal, you’re going to buy your way to freedom with Trump. If you’re one of those people like him, who took advantage of young girls with Jeffrey Epstein, then we’re going to kind of make that go away. I mean, basically, the President. [Mike] Johnson,” said Moulton, a candidate for the US Senate, before being interrupted by the MSNBC host.
“Well, we have no proof that he took advantage of young girls with Jeffrey Epstein,” said Scarborough, a prominent Trump critic who served in the House as a Republican from 1995 to 2001, before ultimately leaving the party.
“Well, well, well. Common sense be damned,” Moulton replied.
“I’m not saying common sense be damned. I’m saying the facts. Let’s look at the facts. Is he in the Epstein files?” Scarborough fought back.

“He’s obviously in the Epstein files. And the reason President Johnson is basically putting us on vacation is because he doesn’t want to seat the newly elected Democratic Rep. from Arizona,” Moulton said, referring to Arizona Democratic Rep. Adelita Grijalva.
Democrats accused Johnson of failing to swear in Grijalva due to the fact that she would be the deciding vote on a release request to be released in the Epstein files. However, Johnson clarified that the reason he did not seat the representative-elect was the ongoing government shutdown, which Senate Democrats have consistently extended.
“But you said he took advantage of young girls,” Scarborough interrupted again. “You don’t have any – you have absolutely no proof of that.”
Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s most prominent victims, did not accuse Trump of misconduct in her posthumous memoir published Oct. 21, about six months after his suicide. Giuffre’s ghostwriter told People magazine that she was a big fan of Trump, thinking he would leak the Epstein files.
Epstein’s victims told NBC News reporter Hallie Jackson during a Sept. 3 panel that they had no knowledge of any wrongdoing by Trump. Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell also said she “never” observed Trump “in an inappropriate setting” with Epstein during an August 2025 interview with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche.

“I just want to, again, be very clear: There’s enough to talk about Donald Trump without making that assumption,” Scarborough said at the end of his lengthy exchange with Moulton. “If you want to make that assumption, you can do it on the ground, in the House. And if you have documents about it, then I’m sure the American people want to see it.”
Bradley Edwards, a lawyer who represented some of Epstein’s victims, described Trump as someone who helped him in his efforts, in a 2018 video. (RELATED: Alan Dershowitz Says He Can Help Team Trump Prove WSJ’s Epstein Story Was ‘Malice’)
“The one thing I can say about President Trump is that he’s the only person who, in 2009, when I served a lot of subpoenas against a lot of people… he’s the only person who picked up the phone and said, ‘let’s talk, I’m going to give you as much time as you want, I’m going to tell you what you need to know,'” Edwards said in 2018. video.
“And [Trump] “He was very helpful in the information he provided and gave no indication that he was involved in anything untoward,” Edwards continued.
