John Gipson named as new Ivy Tech Lake chancellor


A director of the Purdue University was appointed Chancellor at the County Campus of Lake d’Ivoy Tech, officials announced last week.
John Gipson joined Ivy Tech on September 29 of his role as chief of staff to the provost and associate vice-president of academic operations at Purdue University.
Gipson succeeds the temporary Chancellor Heather Hart who has been used since March after the resignation of Marcos Rodriguez Jr., who left in February after only 15 months.
Rodriguez is now director of economic development for the city of Hobart.
A press release said Gipson had led academic strategies that have raised the detention of students and diversified program offers in Purdue.
Before his role as chief of staff, Gipson taught undergraduate lessons and higher cycles to Purdue.
“I am convinced that Dr. Gipson will direct our students from the County of Lake with heart and with excellence. John’s work in higher education and its roots as a educator and university advisor will serve more than 4,000 students in three campuses in the county of Lake who turn us towards the equipment for the future, “said the president of Ivy Tech, Marty Pollio.
He congratulated Gipson for understanding the balanced “operational complexities” with the needs of students and the community. »»
Gipson obtained a doctorate in educational psychology from Purdue and a master’s degree in education from the Grand Valley State University. He obtained a baccalaureate from Western Michigan University.
The press release highlighted the leadership by Gipson of a multi -year strategic planning process which has aligned the priorities of the faculty, staff and students and obtained increased funding for student support services in Purdue.
The exit quoted Gipson as a collaborative leader known for consensual construction and as a student defender.
“This campus has a long tradition of change of life and strengthening communities, and I can’t wait to work alongside our teachers, our staff, our students and our partners to extend opportunities and stimulate student success,” said Gipson.
