There is no new episode of Last week tonight this week, but John Oliver returned to YouTube for a very important web exclusive: a second deep dive into the awesome and ongoing Air Bud franchise.

It covers everything from the plot summary of the upcoming 2026 installment. The return of Air Buds and its associated canine cast draw on the franchise’s impressive number of films (14 plus two Christmas spinoffs).
It’s a long and entertaining rant about the lasting power of Air Bud, but it can perhaps be best summed up by a question Oliver asks halfway through: “Is this a money laundering scheme?”
