Joshua Kimmich talks Germany debutants Lennart Karl and Jonas Urbig

Germany welcomes two new faces to the national team: Bayern Munich duo Lennart Karl and Jonas Urbig. As captain of club and country, Joshua Kimmich aims to support them in every way possible.
“Of course we will try to support the new players, but it is also important that they know that they are here for a reason, and that is because they have played and have some quality,” Kimmich said (as captured by the X account @iMiaSanMia). “They just have to have confidence and put themselves out there. That’s what I expect from the boys. They have to give it their all and take their chance.”

The 31-year-old midfielder also praised Karl: “Lenny is doing very well. He has a very good mindset. He has a healthy mix of self-confidence and nonchalance – you need that when you play for Bayern and Germany at his age. He is very courageous, knows his strengths, tries to make things happen on the pitch and has very good finishing. He has already done his job at Bayern and he will help us here too.”
