Trump Axes Obama’s Endangerment Finding – RedState

By Chris Talgo

Regarding their opinions and policies concerning the so-called climate change, President Donald Trump and former President Barack Obama separate far.

Trump is a climate realistic that understands that conventional energy sources like coal and natural gas are essential for the stability of the American network and will play a big role in the next AI arms race.

Obama, on the other hand, is a faithful climate alarmist who makes fun of conventional energy sources and promotes “green” energy.

During his two mandates, Obama promulgated several policies that have subsidized non -competitive, useless and undesirable green energy while placing expensive regulations on fossil fuels. During his first mandate, Trump tried to reverse a large part of the anti-fossil actions of the Obama administration.

However, there was only little to do given the constant distractions that Trump was confronted throughout his first mandate.

One of the most consecutive environmental regulations that Trump could not eliminate was Obama’s “endangering conclusion”.

Most Americans have probably never heard of Endangered. But this dark rule has effectively allowed the federal government to label carbon dioxide a harmful “pollutant” which can be regulated under the Clean Air Act.

Unfortunately, a decision of the United States Supreme Court allowed the Obama administration to promulgate the rule in the first place.

In 2007, the United States Supreme Court ruled Massachusetts c. EPA Whether greenhouse gases are atmospheric pollutants covered by the Clean Act Act and that the EPA must determine whether or not the greenhouse gas emissions cause motor vehicles or contribute to air pollution which can reasonably be planned to endanger public health or well-being “.

Although it is the standard reading of the decision, it is not completely exact. According to the majority opinion, written by former judge John Paul Stevens, “we do not need and do not manage to know if the EPA must make a conclusion of endangerment, or if political problems can shed light on the actions of the EPA in the event that it made such a conclusion. We believe that the EPA must base its reasons for action or inaction in the status. ”

Thus, the 2007 decision did not determine that carbon dioxide is a harmful air pollutant. Rather, he granted that EPA has the power to determine whether carbon dioxide is a harmful greenhouse gas based solely on unequivocal data.

Trump’s EPA administrator Lee Zeldin has canceled the endangerment to find a priority.

“Many people listen, they may not know what is the conclusion of endangering. If you ask the Democrats of Congress to describe what it is, the left would say that it means that carbon dioxide is a pollutant, carbon dioxide is an endangerment for human health.

“It’s an overly simplified way, I would say an inaccurate way to describe it,” added Zeldin. “The Obama administration said that carbon dioxide, when mixed with a lot of other well -mixed gases, greenhouse gases, which it contributes to climate change. How much? They do not say … they say that climate change generates human health, so because of these different mental jumps … So there were all kinds of vehicle regulations.”

Zeldin said that the repeal of the conclusion of endangering is “the conduct of a dagger at the heart of the religion of climate change”. It’s music to my ears.

It is also excellent news for Americans.

Climatic alarmists and environmental fanatics say that carbon dioxide emissions should be eliminated, regardless of the cost.

They are wrong. By denigrating CO2 and trying to regulate it to death, they injured tens of millions of Americans with higher energy bills. In addition, their silly belief that carbon dioxide is a harmful air pollutant has put the entire American energy network in danger.

As we enter the AI era, the reliable and affordable energy demand will increase quickly.

Currently, natural gas and coal are the best sources to feed America in the age of AI.

In “Affordable, reliable and clean: an objective dashboard to assess competing energy sources”, notes the president of the Heartland Institute, James Taylor, “affordable, reliable and clean are the fundamental elements of solid energy policy. An in -depth analysis of seven sources of common electrical energy reveals that natural gas does not make the most meaning depending on the trace of the modage and the clean model, with a nuclear, hydro and and coal moding. Wind and solar separate as the least desirable sources of energy. »»

Fortunately, Trump administration knows that natural gas and coal are vital for the future of America. With the conclusion of endangering the blocking, the United States is even better placed to reach the domination of energy, which will open the way to American supremacy of AI.
