Judge says 3 months in jail are enough for Chinese scientist in US smuggling case

A young Chinese scientist who has been in prison for three months will return to China. A Detroit judge says that no additional prison sentence is necessary for Chengxuan Han. She did not argue any competitions to send organic equipment to the United States illegally before arriving for a job at the University of Michigan. The equipment was not dangerous, but the government affirms that the packages were not properly labeled and that Han had no approval to ship them. Han says it was a “very painful” lesson and that his career is “destroyed”.
