Ghislanie Maxwell, accomplice of disgraced billionaire child sex predator Jeffrey Epstein, will not cooperate with a House investigation into Epstein and the Justice Department’s handling of his case.

Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for child sex trafficking, and House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said her legal team told her she would invoke her Fifth Amendment rights if called to speak with congressional investigators.

“Her lawyers responded that she would not answer any questions,” Comer said Policy. “She’s only going to plead the Fifth. I mean, I could spend a lot of taxpayer money to send staff and members there, and if she litigates the Fifth, I don’t know if it’s a good investment.”

The committee subpoenaed Maxwell in July. Initially, she suggested she would be willing to answer questions under certain circumstances, such as immunity from criminal prosecution and the ability to receive questions in advance, which Comer rejected. One of Maxwell’s lawyers, David Oskar Markus, signed a letter that month stating that Maxwell “will have no choice but to invoke his Fifth Amendment rights” if his conditions were not met.

After the House subpoena, Maxwell spoke with the Justice Department, giving an interview to Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche and claiming that she never saw Donald Trump at Epstein’s house, saying the two were only casual friends.

“I think [Trump and Epstein] were friendly as people are in a social context. I don’t think they were close friends or I certainly never saw the president in any of the events, I don’t remember ever seeing him in [Epstein’s] house, for example”, Maxwell saidaccording to interview transcripts. “In fact, I have never seen the president in any type of massage. I have never seen the president in an inappropriate setting in any way. The president has never been inappropriate with anyone.”

Shortly after this interview, Maxwell was transferred to a minimum security facility in Texas, where she was incarcerated. special benefits such as secret meetings with visitors in the prison chapel, being able to eat alone in one’s cell, having a security escort to the gymnasium, and being able to take a shower after the other inmates have fallen asleep.

Recent disclosures of Epstein emails by the House Oversight Committee contradict Maxwell’s characterization of his relationship with Trump, with Epstein and Maxwell discussing Trump’s frequent visits to Epstein’s home and how Trump spent a lot of time with sex trafficking victims.

Perhaps this is why Maxwell does not want to cooperate with Congress. She would be forced to answer questions about new revelations contained in committee emails that implicate not only her, but also the president, and to explain why she lied to the DOJ.
