Morning reflection
I have a boring character trait: I am an eternal optimist. Oh, of course, I can sometimes descend into the mouths of things. And certainly, I can be cynical – I don’t think you can follow politics and the media and not succumb to this on occasion. But my default setting is the sunny side.
Thus, even if I understand the impetus of some to look at $ 9 billion in spending discounts, measured against nearly 37 billions of dollars of debt and snark that it does not make sense, I do not share this pessimism. I look at the fact that this is the first package of successful attractions to cross the congress 26 years old, And I see it as – well – a step in the right direction. A baby step – maybe just a fraction of a baby step – but for criminy, it’s in the right direction. And rather than Kvetch on this subject which is not enough, I choose to applaud the Congress (the GOP, that is to say) to make this stage and encourage them to stay there. Build this momentum. Continue.
Look, if nothing else, it is rewarding to see Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Rosa Delauro (D-CT), Melanie Stansbury (D-NM), and others screaming and pedting the feet on it.
