King Charles and Prince Harry met for first time in more than a year
Prince Harry was seen in the residence of King Charles III in London on Wednesday, months after Harry said that his father had refused to speak to him.
The officials of the Buckingham Palace confirmed that the two gathered for private tea at the King’s private residence. It was the first time that Harry and Charles, 76, met in 19 months.
Harry, 40, is currently in the United Kingdom for the Wellchild Awards, a charity that he frequents that recognizes seriously sick children and their British caregivers. His first judgment on Monday was to visit the grave of his grandmother in Windsor to lay flowers at the last rest of the Queen Elizabeth II.
The speculations that the two come together were riveted before he was even spotted who came out of a car at the royal residence, Clarence House, Wednesday evening.
The car that brought him seen when he left less than an hour later. Harry was inside the Range Rover when leaving, according to Sky News.
The relationship between Harry and Charles was tense since he and his wife, Meghan Markle, left the royal front -line functions in 2020 and moved to California to launch several media companies and charity work.
After having resigned from his duties, the protection of Harry was demoted from full-time protection while in the United Kingdom to his consideration on a case-by-case basis. He lost an appeal earlier this year before the court for the decision concerning his security has been canceled.
Harry told the BBC in May that his father would not speak to him “because of this security thing”.
Harry said he was impatient to reconcile with the royal family and “there is no point in continuing to fight people”.
The prince has made other trips to London in the past year and a half, partly because of his security attraction and a legal battle with the British newspaper group of Rupert Murdoch concerning intrusions in his private life.
But his wife and two children stayed at home in California. He could not consider bringing Meghan, Archie and Lilibet without security guarantee, he said to the BBC.
In this time, relations with his brother and the heir to the throne, Prince William, do not seem to have improved. The pair has not met since February 2024.
Prince William went to Cardiff on Wednesday for a visit to New Mental Health Hub in the Stade de la Principality in honor of World Suicide Prevention Day.
