Kirby Smart names what made the difference in Georgia's win vs Ole Miss
ATHENS, Ga. – The Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Ole Miss Rebels 43-35 thanks to a strong offensive performance. The Georgia offense scored on all eight drives from beyond the knees at the end of the game. However, despite Georgia’s offensive success, the Bulldogs still faced a nine-point deficit in the fourth quarter. Georgia allowed five straight touchdowns to Ole Miss to start the game as the Rebels entered the fourth quarter with a 35-26 lead.
In the fourth quarter, the Dawgs held Ole Miss to just 13 total yards and outscored the Rebels 17-0. The Georgia crowd made a big difference as the Bulldogs finally warmed up to Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart was frustrated with Georgia’s hot-and-cold defensive performance, but was happy to get a top-10 win at home. Smart improves to 8-0 against top-10 opponents at Sanford Stadium. Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton had five total touchdowns and no turnovers in an outstanding performance. UGA tight end Lawson Luckie scored three touchdowns in the win. The Bulldogs scored drive after drive despite the pressure to score due to their defensive struggles.
"Our ability to run the ball at the end of the day is probably the difference in the game." Kirby Smart said after Georgia’s win. "We certainly couldn’t stop them very often. We stopped them when necessary. A great crowd, an incredible crowd. Hats off to Ole Miss."Next up for Georgia is a bye week before the Georgia-Florida game. The Bulldogs are now 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the SEC.
