LA Mayor Karen Bass Makes Insulting Comparison to Violent 2025 Anti-ICE Riots – RedState

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D) is running for re-election. A year after the horrific failures of the Palisades and the Eaton fires that raged while she was partying in Ghana on taxpayers’ dime, you’d think she’d be hiding under a rock or taking responsibility.

Instead, she’s making the rounds on D-List Democratic podcasts, like former DNC Chair Jaime Harrison, to reinvent and craft a record that doesn’t exist. Bass’ final revisionist take: The Los Angeles anti-ICE riots of 2025 were comparable to the rowdy sports fans when the Lakers won the championship. Apparently flaming Waymos and Mexican flags are now the norm in championship parades.

Bass also said the National Guard was not needed to quell last summer’s unrest and alleged that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents are just modern-day slave patrols.

Bass and Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) obviously use the same communications person.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass responds, saying last year’s anti-ICE protests did not turn into riots, and comparing vandalism and clashes between protesters and police to the actions of fans after a Los Angeles Lakers championship.

Bass was on the “At Our Table with Jamie Harrison” podcast when she discussed the federalization of National Guard troops and the deployment of several hundred Marines to the city amid several days of anti-ICE protests.

While some protesters legally expressed their anger at ICE, others set cars on fire, including vehicles belonging to the California Highway Patrol and Waymo, and violently fought with police, while elected officials claimed the protests were peaceful.

“Nothing was happening. OK, we have some protests,” Bass told Harrison. “You want to know that the protests, in my opinion, amounted to a Lakers championship.”

“You know what happens after a championship, right? Some idiots hang around. They get drunk, they start vandalizing things. There was no riot here.”

This is nothing new. Bass floated this river in Egypt in July, after the National Guard was deployed to quell the chaos caused by June’s anti-ICE protests. A reporter confronted Bass about it and she categorically denied at the time that riots had taken place.

Thus, Bass is infamous for his revisionist history; that’s what communists do. In December, RedState’s Bob Hoge reported that Bass recorded a podcast interview and admitted that both sides “botched it,” referencing the horrific response to the Palisades and Eaton fires in 2025. But before the podcast aired, Bass’s team rushed to suppress the truth.

Bass continues his lies and malicious language toward ICE and the agents who choose to serve their country in this way. Later in December, Bass said in a CNN interview that the main reason Hispanics join the Border Patrol is because they need the money, attributing this to the Trump economy. It’s insulting, but what’s even more insulting is that Bass still holds the title of Mayor of Los Angeles when she should have resigned or been removed from office a year ago.

The Los Angeles Police Protective League, which is as disgusted with Bass and his lack of leadership as the majority of Angeleans, disagrees. After all, it was their rank-and-file soldiers who inhaled smoke, suffered physical injuries, and destroyed cars and equipment during these CHIRLA-funded astroturf protests, while Bass allegedly ordered the police to stand down.

When President Donald Trump deployed the National Guard, Bass used every camera possible to denounce his invasion and demanded that the National Guard leave Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Police Protective League, the union that represents rank-and-file officers in the Los Angeles Police Department, disagrees.

“We disagree with anyone describing the many times these protests have turned into riots,” the union board’s statement to Fox News Digital said. “Just looking at the videos of the destroyed Waymo vehicles, the CHP car set on fire, the vandalism of property, the looting of businesses and the injuries to police officers qualifies this criminal behavior as rioting.”

For each of these attempts at reinvention, someone must put together the video recording proving that Bass is a fraud and a liar. On the one-year anniversary of the deadly fires that destroyed Pacific Palisades and Altadena, Bass is once again trying to pretend she had nothing to do with the destruction and is doing everything she can to help citizens rebuild.

“A year after the fires, are you surprised that so much of this anger is directed at you?” Haskell asked.

“A little, but again, I understand the anger,” Bass responded. “Seeing all the construction going on, it’s hopeful, it inspires me. But it’s still painful, and I understand the grief. So I understand people’s emotions, so if they need to focus them on me, you know, whatever, whatever it takes for them to heal and get through it. I don’t take it personally.”

This is Bass’s world, and you’re not in it. Angeleans must have a personal goal of ensuring that this woman is not re-elected.
