Laid-off workers should use AI to manage their emotions, says Xbox exec

The scanning dismissals announced by Microsoft this week were particularly difficult for its game studios, but an Xbox framework has a solution to “help reduce the emotional and cognitive load that accompanies job loss”: asking for advice from IA chatbots.
In a Liendin post now deleted captured by ConsequencesMatt Turnbull by Xbox Game Studios said that it would be “overlooked not to try to offer the best possible advice in the circumstances”. The circumstances here being a multitude of cancellations of games, closed services, studios closings and job cuts on the key divisions of the Xbox, because Microsoft takes place up to 9,100 employees in the company.
Turnbull admitted that people had “strong feelings” about AI tools like Chatgpt and Copilot, but suggested that anyone who felt “overwhelmed” could use them to obtain advice on the creation of Curriculum Vitae, career planning and apply for new roles.
“These are really difficult moments, and if you sail in a layoff or even by preparing quietly, you are not alone and you don’t have to go alone,” said Turnbull. “No AL tool replaces your voice or your lived experience. But at a time when mental energy is rare, these tools can help you take off faster, quieter and with more clarity.”
Microsoft loudly kissed AI, after announcing plans in January to invest $ 80 billion in AI infrastructure before this last wave of job cuts. This environment could have remarked that its recommendations were reasonable. More broadly, however, the generating AI is considered by certain creations as a threat to creative industries such as games, which have already had trouble growing dismissals and studio closings in recent years.
We do not know why Turnbull deleted his article LinkedIn, but if the comments on this repubulous made in Bluesky are an indication, the creatives probably did not take over his suggestions too kindly.

I know that these types of tools generate strong feelings in people, but I would be careful not to try to offer the best possible advice in the circumstances. I have experienced ways to use LLM AL tools (like Chatgpt or Copilot) to help reduce the emotional and cognitive load that accompanies job loss.
Here are some quick ideas and use cases that could help if you feel exceeded:
