Lake County school officials helping parents with ICE fears – Chicago Tribune

U.S. marshals took a Portage man who is a former priest into custody late last month on a warrant from New Orleans charging him with several felony counts of child sexual abuse and kidnapping, an official said.

Mark Francis Ford, 64, has been at the Porter County Jail since Sept. 25, confirmed Sgt. Ben McFalls, public information officer for the Porter County sheriff’s department. The alleged crimes took place from 2004 until 2014, Fair said. The Guardian broke the story the day after Ford’s arrest.

Lake County school officials helping parents with ICE fears

North Chicago School District 187 Superintendent John Price said principals at the district’s schools are receiving calls from parents who are afraid to have their children wait outside before school. Read more here.

British police say deadly rampage at UK synagogue was a terrorist attack

An assailant drove a car into people outside a synagogue today in northern England and then began stabbing them, killing two and seriously wounding four in a terrorist attack on the holiest day of the Jewish year, police said. Read more here.
