What Should Anti-Trump States Focus On?
Last night, I received an email from TPM Reader THE. She started by explaining that she has been reading TPM for at least a few decades, returning to the previous phases of her life at the start of her life, and is now a state legislator in a state of the midwest. So the idea that the governments of the States are at the heart of the current moment are of great interest and resonated with it. (A secondary note: this introduction warmed my heart on several levels.) But it asked, more as a rhetorical question, than a question for me: what specifically? Yes, the power of the state is clearly critical, but what elements of state power should we concentrate, where are the specific resistance points?
I may have an excessive answer: I focus on the overview. The little photo, finally, good question …
But that made me start to think: if the concept is fair, operationally, in first? If state representatives say that should we do, what should people advise?
It made me think and I thought of various ideas and various ways to answer the question. So let me share a few, not in a complete way but as a way to start a conversation.
