Lakers jersey history No. 2 — Wayne Ellington
Throughout the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers had a total of 506 players insured for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were usable, some were good and some selected were legendary flat.
While the Lakers are approaching their 80th season of existence (they were founded in 1946 under the name of Detroit Gems of the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire takes a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it was a purple and a gold or those whom they have pushed into the middle of the East in their first years.
Let’s take a look at Wayne Ellington, a sniper who has experienced two separate stays with the Lakers.
After spending three years at the University of North Carolina, Ellington was the choice n ° 28 of the 2009 NBA Restchage by the Minnesota Timberwolves. The shooting goalkeeper played his first three seasons in Minnesota, and after brief times with the grizzelies of Memphis, Cleveland Cavaliers and Dallas Mavericks, he came to the Lakers for the 2014-15 season.
That season, he started 36 of the 65 games and collected an average of 10.0 points per game while pulling 37% on a 3-point range.
Ellington rebounded around the league in the following years before returning to purple and gold in 2021. During the 2021-222 campaign, his last NBA, he contributed 6.7 points in 18.8 minutes per match and made 38.9% of his attempts at 3 points.
