Larry Ellison has been investing heavily of late in his son’s growing media empire, but his latest investment is a little different. An entity that shares the address with his Larry Ellison Foundation has purchased Lion Country Safari, a Florida attraction that has been a visitor favorite for 58 years.

Located outside of West Palm Beach, the adventure park lets visitors drive or walk through parts of a mini wildlife preserve that has a variety of animals not normally found in Florida outside of a zoo, including wildebeests, ostriches, water buffalo, giraffes, rhinoceroses, zebras, and African lions. All totaled, the park covers 254.2-acres.

“After 58 years of leadership and dedication to wildlife, conservation and education, Lion Country Safari is saying farewell to the last members of its founding family, as ownership transitions to the Larry Ellison family who has a longstanding commitment to wildlife conservation,” reads a statement on the park’s website.

Operations at the park will continue as normal, Lion Country Safari says.

Ellison has a history of investing in conservation-focused efforts. Earlier this year, the Larry Ellison Foundation opened a 197-acre wildlife conservation center in Saratoga, California. He also owns several properties in South Florida.

Ellison, in September, briefly topped Elon Musk to become the world’s richest person, when Oracle’s stock surged 40% after the company reported fiscal first-quarter earnings that showed tremendous cloud demand numbers.

Ellison, 81, is still active at Oracle, acting as chairman and chief technical officer (and has been mentioned as part of the coalition to buy TikTok). He holds more than 1.1 million shares of the company and is well-known for retaining them. The stock has come down from those September highs, but is still up 23% year to date in 2025.
