Philips Norelco i9000 Shaver Review (2025): A Close Shave
You are never really Expect your razor to have an opinion on you. And yet, I was there, receiving a faulty note from the new i9000 Ultra Shaver prestige from Philips Norelco, released this spring.
According to a telephone application associated with the device, I apparently used my bad razor. I had pressed too delicately, whispering my skin too slightly for optimal shaving. My statistics were, in fact, downright abyssal. I had applied optimal pressure at only 30% of the time. By extension, I probably used a number of erroneous razors for years, without knowing it.
“Let’s try again!” The application exhorted me, with hope in its robot heart.

The i9000 Prestige Ultra is, at first glance, something that I did not expect. This is a razor trained in AI, offering real -time comments to guide each user to their ideal shaving, both via an application and via a light necklace that shines orange, green or purple depending on how you manage. Just like a big book teaches you to read it, this razor apparently teaches you to shave.
My publisher was skeptical. “No razor even needs an application, even less one with metrics and judgment,” she wrote when I described it.
Except that what is funny is that I apparently needed help. In a few days, I hadn’t just received warm congratulations from my razor for my “perfect” movement and my pressure. I had also made some of the closest shaving that I have ever obtained from an electrical device.
I don’t even know if I want to be in a relationship with a human hairdresser, not to mention an AI razor. But to paraphrase the immortal Rasheed Wallace, the skin does not lie. And mine was without constraint and smooth to the touch.
