Late Jordan Young penalty salvages point for Torquay United at Maidstone United

Torquay United manager Paul Wotton said that his players saw a different part of him during their draw of the National League 1-1 in Maidstone United.

The gulls went behind when John Gilbert broke out after Torquay committed too many players in the seventh minute, Wotton’s defense criticized.

Torquay improved as the second half advanced – Louis Dennis got closer to the period while Jordan Dyer also had a good chance

But Torquay recovered a point at the fifth minute of the time of arrest while Dyer converted a penalty after the striker was the victim of a fault in the box.

The draw maintains the undefeated start of Torquay of the season on a trip to AFC Totton on Tuesday.

“This is the first time that some of the new players have come a side of me that I don’t like to show and they could easily have come into their shell,” Wotton at BBC Radio Devon told.

“We were not perfect today but we have a point far from home.

“I always respect a point far from my home in football, especially in a club that has had a huge success to be in and around the play-offs and has a very good manager who organizes his teams very well.

“So we will take stock and go home.”
