Latest plans for White House ballroom revealed

Shalom Baranes, the architect working on the new East Wing ballroom, said the completed structure would match “exactly” the height of the White House.
Baranes presented the latest plans for a 90,000-square-foot expansion to members of the National Capital Planning Commission.
According to Baranes, the ballroom would have ceilings of about 40 feet and could accommodate up to 1,000 seated guests.
He also mentioned that the project will include visitor access to the White House and make unspecified improvements to Lafayette Park across the street.
