LeBron James looking at slow ramp-up to Lakers season

LeBron James did not participate in the first day of Lakers training Tuesday due to “nervous irritation in the buttocks”.
The teammates of James Marcus Smart, Gabe Vincent and Adou Thiero were “under the game protocols or modified protocols” during the first sessions of the team.
James enters his 23rd season of the NBA record and the goal is to reappear it to be ready for the opening of the regular season on October 21 against the Golden State Warriors in Crypto.com Arena.
“Yeah, I think it’s probably a little longer of an increase leading to the opening evening for him obviously in 23rd year, it is an unexplored territory here,” said Lakers coach JJ Redick. “So, I felt, and speaking with the performance and speaking with Mike (Mancas, James’ personal coach) and LeBron, as probably too much last year in the camp, which was great for me as a first-year-old chief coach to obtain the membership of him.
“But it will be a slower process with him leading to the first match. He is obviously 22 years old until now for wear on his body and he is dealing with a little nervous irritation in the buttocks. So we just play the long game with LeBron.”
Redick said that Vincent was “just modified” and that hope is that he will play in the pre-season match on Friday against the Phoenix Suns in Palm Desert.
“He should be ready to go online by the end of the week and we expect him to play on Friday,” said Redick. “And it’s just, once again, the management of, as we also did last year.”
Smart could be seen shooting after training, but the Lakers take so slowly with him.
“Marcus, he is dealing with a little Achilles tendinopathy,” said Redick. “He was increasingly increasing. He was a modified participant, nothing lived today. He should be good by the end of the week.”
Thiero said on Monday that he still had a “swelling” in his left knee which prevented him from playing in the summer league in Las Vegas and has slowed his time on the ground since then.
Redick said that Thiero was running, cut and jumped with coaches, but that they will take slowly with him.
“It’s really about playing the long game with him,” said Redick. “We consider this year of development this year this year and there is no reason why we push his body and create a long -term problem. Her knee is in a very good place. We just want to be very careful.”
Redick said: “That’s the goal”, when he was asked if James would be ready to play when the season is opened.
James, 40, played 71,104 minutes in his career, including the playoffs.
“You hear me a lot to use this: it’s an unknown territory,” said Redick. “I do not think there is a proven way of managing someone who has so many mileage, these many minutes, we were invited to do so many things at the two ends of the field. We asked a lot of him last year, we asked a lot of him to start the year in the camp, so it works as a partnership and try to understand it. ”
Even with James who does not train, Austin Reaves said that it would not be a problem for the three leaders to find ways to make them fluid for their teammates.
With James and Luka Doncic, Reaves is considered one of the stars of the Lakers and he says that James is still engaged even when he does not train.
“Yeah, just a communication,” said Reaves. “To have a good dialogue in both directions, what everyone loves, what we can do to succeed. With him being one of the biggest IQ guys to play the game, I think it’s not that difficult to see him even if he is not there right now, he sees the game just as well as what has ever played the game. “
