Leftist Senator Who Opposes Voter ID Has Requirement to Attend His Event… Your Papers – RedState
Those on the left are known for their “do as I say, not as I do” rhetoric. They fly planes screaming about climate change, they talk about affordability but want to raise your taxes every chance they get, they pass soft crime laws while enjoying private security, and so on.
Georgia Democratic Sen. John Ossoff reportedly took the hypocrisy to an almost ridiculous level. He’s opposed to voter ID and the SAVE Act, you see, but if you want to attend his campaign event, be prepared to show your paperwork.
The level of gall is almost hilarious:
The Georgia senator is requiring a government-issued ID for members of the public to attend his campaign rally Saturday, while opposing similar requirements to vote in elections.
Ossoff became one of the most vocal fighters against election security measures, opposing not only the SAVE Act requiring government-issued ID verification to vote, but even introducing legislation to enshrine in law the right to vote without proving one’s identity. His bill, inaccurately titled the Voting Rights Act, would make it harder for states to ensure the integrity of elections by implementing voter ID.
The emailed invitation to his campaign event reportedly said: “Due to security requirements…be prepared to present identification that matches our RSVP list and these arrival instructions (printed or on your phone). »
It’s not yet clear whether he will make any remarks about voter ID at the event.
His potential future competitor, Republican Rep. Mike Collins (GA-10), who is running in the Republican primary for Ossoff’s Senate seat, pointed out the irony – or shall we say, the utter hypocrisy – of Ossoff’s demand:

Collins also released a press statement:
“This is typical Jon Ossoff saying one thing and doing another. It’s ridiculous that Jon Ossoff needs a government ID to listen to him explain why you shouldn’t need a government ID to vote,” Collins said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

Ossoff said in 2025 of the measure: “This is a purely partisan, completely unworkable and bad faith bill, cynically intended to disenfranchise millions of eligible voters. »
You can’t buy a beer, get on a plane, or attend John Ossoff’s event without ID, but you shouldn’t need it to vote, they think. Of course, this makes no sense, but this is often the case with liberal policies, especially when it comes to illegal immigration.
