If you look at the photos, you will notice that the Rainfly is at each end of the tent. It saves a little on weight and improves ventilation, but it was an area that worried me when I reviewed the 3 people version years ago. Fortunately, this was never a problem, the bathtub floor (which is exposed under the fly) was very waterproof in my use.

Speaking of bathtub floors, there is a clip-in vestibule floor which is also a form of bathtub. Nemo calls this the landing area. It is a bit of an additional fabric triangle which covers about half of the vestibule and protects any equipment that you stored against the Frack-Splash and any water that could be under the fly. There are stays in the Rainfly to help him maintain his bathtub.

The landing area weighs almost nothing (1.7 ounce) and makes the vestibule much more usable, keeping your equipment dry even if the ground is wet. It is a good feature that I appreciate on rainy days.

What I really like in Nemo’s tents on other options, such as copper spur tents is detail. The landing area, the ceiling lighthouse pocket (which transforms your headlight into a lantern, with a reddish light), the attachment of the quick fly, the fact that the almost vertical side walls mean that the doors can use a right zipper (which you can open with a hand), the beautiful hooks that allow you to roll the vestibule and the interior doors from the way … Tested the most on the nails.

There are some compromises here. The big one is the weight. It is not the tent for ultra-light backpackers, hikers or anyone looking for a minimalist structure with very low weight. If it’s you, look on tarpaulins and non -replenishing tents like the lunar solo. Again, however, separated between two people, I think that a tent of 4 pounds like the dagger is perfectly acceptable.

The other compromise: the Nemo is up of the price spectrum. According to my experience, the combination of high quality materials, durability and attention to detail makes the Dagger OSMO 2P which is worth the investment.
