Lenovo’s New Legion Go Handheld Has a 144Hz Screen and Better Controls
Lenovo finally published the new Go Legion (8.8 “, 2), the second generation of his pocket computer. The new model is based on the original with fairly significant improvements and even more personalization options.
The first thing you notice is the screen, which is an Oled Wuxga Landscape 8.8 “screen with a variable refresh rate of 30 Hz at 144hz. It is a huge matter because it means that you get much better and more vibrant colors with a super soft experience, whatever you play.
The supply of this beautiful display is up to an Extreme AMD Ryzen Z2 processor and up to 32 GB of RAM of 8000 MHz, which is more than enough to manage even the most high -intensity AAA games. The storage also obtains a large upgrade with up to an SSD of 2 TO PCIe Gen 4, and it has a microSD card location which supports up to 2 additional TOs. This means that you can take your whole game library with you wherever you go.
To make sure you have enough juices for all these games, the battery has been upgraded to a heavy 74Whr, which is more than 50% larger than the previous generation. The detachable Legion’s Truestrike controllers have been redesigned with more ergonomic lines and a more intelligent button arrangement. They always have this great FPS mode which transforms the right controller into a vertical mouse, which is perfect for FPS games.
Detachable controllers give you much more freedom, allowing you to switch between console mode, tablet mode and portable mode. There are also three programmable buttons by the user that you can personalize via Legion Space, giving you even more control with a single press.
To be fair, the original controllers were quite good, but the joysticks of the hall effect sound as if they give much better precision with fewer drift problems. The big pivot of-Pad is also an excellent addition because it is essential to have a reactive D-Pad in fights or retro games. The best part is that the redesigned controllers are entirely compatible with the first generation legion, so if you already have one, you can upgrade your controllers without buying a brand new device.
Other improvements include a robust shitty outfit when you play with detached controllers, and there is now a USB-4 port at the top of the device. This facilitates access to ports, whether you are anchored, on a table or just hold it in your hands. There is even a fingerprint reader integrated into the power button for faster connection.
The name is the only thing that prevents me from really like the pocket computer. I try not to judge the names, but it is weird to have the generation number in a parenthesis (8.8 “, 2) instead of the ordinary” 2 “at the end. I originally thought that it was an expansion of the line and not of a new generation, but Lenovo believed enough to push it, so maybe others can love it.
