Liberal Bay Area Billionaire Now Backs Trump on NG Deployments – RedState

California is a mess. The towns of the old Golden State are even messier. Crime, homelessness, open drug use, and all the unrest surrounding the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal aliens have all combined to make life in California more difficult for everyone. Even some billionaires, shielded from the worst consequences of Gov. Gavin “A Little Dab’ll Do Ya” Newsom and Sacramento’s Democratic majority, are beginning to say they’ve had enough.
Case in point: Salesforce CEP Marc Benioff, a classic California liberal who supported the presidential ambitions of Her Imperial Majesty Hillary I, Dowager Empress of Chappaqua. He now strongly supports President Trump, including supporting the Trump administration’s plans to use National Guard troops to restore order.
While other tech titans were building private rockets and scooping up super yachts, Salesforce founder and chief executive Marc Benioff was known for spreading large sums of cash around San Francisco, his hometown. He tended toward the liberal side of Silicon Valley politics. He lectured other business leaders on the importance of helping the homeless instead of complaining about them.
But 2025 seems to have marked the beginning of Benioff 2.0.
Benevolence remains, but not liberal tendencies. In a wide-ranging interview, Mr. Benioff said this week that he avidly supports President Trump and believes National Guard troops should be deployed to San Francisco — an action that city leaders would consider unconscionable.
City leaders also appear to be considering enforcing the law beyond the limits. They view the deportation of illegal aliens – in other words, the legal enforcement of immigration laws – as unacceptable. They consider arresting people who shoot up on public sidewalks to be out of line, just like arresting people who drop their pants and drop a bunch of Democratic public policies on those same sidewalks.
Democratic Party politics in California have been a colossal burden for Schiff, and Marc Benioff isn’t the only one who’s fed up.
Mr. Benioff’s move is another example of a prominent Bay Area tech executive adhering to the Republican president’s worldview. Tim Cook, Apple’s chief executive, gave Mr. Trump a gift of 24-karat gold and praised the president during a visit to the Oval Office in August. Last month, at a White House dinner for tech barons, OpenAI Chief Executive Sam Altman told Mr. Trump that it was a “very refreshing change.”
It’s an interesting turnaround and one that speaks ill of Newsom’s 2028 presidential ambitions.

Here’s the thing: People won’t put up with the government misdeeds of California Democrats forever. San Francisco, in particular, was once, not so long ago, one of the greatest cities in the world. I have written many times about how my father and some of his army buddies visited this town in the fall of 1945, shortly after VJ Day, and how impressed Dad was with the big, clean, friendly, prosperous place that “Frisco” was at that time.
This could be the case again, of course. All it will take is new leadership. If it also takes a few hundred National Guard troops to get the city out of trouble and help quell the raging useful idiots, then clearly some Silicon Valley elites are willing to support that.
Editor’s note: The Schumer ruling is here. Rather than putting the American people first, Chuck Schumer and radical Democrats forced a government shutdown on health care for illegal immigrants. They own that.
