Caitlin Clark being evaluated for groin injury before game vs. Liberty

Caitlin Clark’s status for Wednesday night’s game against the Liberty is in limbo.
The sharp-shooting Indiana Fever star was being evaluated for a groin injury after she left in the final minute of Tuesday night’s 85-77 win over the Sun in Connecticut.
”Felt a little something in her groin,” head coach Stephanie White said.
Clark missed five games from June 26 to July 5 with a left groin injury, but she appeared to be holding her right groin before she exited Tuesday’s game with 39.3 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
The 22-year-old guard appeared frustrated as she went to the bench, where she placed a towel over her head.

Wednesday night’s game would be Clark’s first in Brooklyn this season.
“I think we just take it one step at a time,” White said. “We’ll get some food and get on the plane and start talking about New York. She’s being evaluated. We’ll see where we are with that, and certainly, we’ll have another evaluation, probably, and conversation in the morning, see where we are.”
Clark also missed five games earlier in the season with a left quad injury. In between her extended injury absences, Clark erupted for 32 points, nine assists and eight rebounds in a June 14 win over the Liberty in Indianapolis, dealing the defending WNBA champions their first loss.
The second-year standout has struggled since returning from her left groin injury, however, averaging 12.5 points on 34% shooting in four games. Clark finished with 14 points and four turnovers in the win over the Sun.
“We know that we have a tough opponent in New York,” White said. “We know that it’s going to be a challenge no matter what, and we’ve just got to get locked in and ready to compete.”
