Lindsey Graham 2.0 Resurfaces on Meet the Press – RedState

Many of us remember with disgust the Democrats’ shenanigans to try to block the Senate’s approval of Judge Brett Kavanaugh. This is a shameful episode, an example of partisanship run amok, and we can hope to never experience such an event again, even though we have and will in the future. This is how the Democratic Party is built these days.

Many of us also remember, also from this episode, the flash of anger of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and his attack on his Democratic colleagues during the hearing. This was the event many of us called “Lindsey 2.0,” the new, more energetic Lindsey Graham who didn’t want to take any Schiff from anyone.

Sunday on “Meet the Press,” opposite host Kristen Welker, while talking about the accusations against Letitia James and others, we saw a little flash of Lindsey 2.0 again.

The conversation here is messy, with the two talking over each other at times, so I’ll see if I can’t clear things up.

Kristen Welker: Do you think this crosses a line between the Department of Justice and its independence from the executive branch?

Senator Graham: I think our Justice Department, in the hands of (President) Biden, has crossed all limits. I think three days after announcing he would run for president in 2024, he did so in 2020 as well.

KW (interrupting): But what about Trump? And Trump?

Senator Graham: He was the subject of 91 indictments…

KW (still interrupting): But what about Trump?

Senator Graham: No, I think the grand jury will handle it. But that didn’t matter to you. You don’t care that Letitia James made up accusations that no one has ever faced.

KW: But Senator Biden never called for Trump to be indicted.

Senator Graham: He had done it… Biden, Biden regretted not having done it before the election. Jack Smith monitored my phone records and those of eight other senators. Jack Smith presented his brief against Trump on October 24, ahead of the 2024 election, violating all protocols for the sole purpose of politicizing the election. So it may bother you that people are being held responsible. This doesn’t bother me at all.

So it’s not quite the outburst of anger, or even rage, that we saw during the Kavanaugh hearings. But Senator Graham didn’t take Kristen Welker’s arguments literally either.

Prepare for another left meltdown: Report John Bolton could be indicted as early as next week

This is the best way to manage existing media. Do not accept their premises. Do not accept their statements at face value. Don’t accept what they say as the truth, because it probably isn’t. Stay on message. Stay the course. Kristen Welker was clearly trying, in this clip, to bring the discussion back to something comfortable for her, but all she had – all the left has – as far as messaging right now is exactly what Ms. Welker repeatedly protested in this interview:

“But what about Trump? But what about Trump? But what about Trump?”

This is not a winning message. It is the Democrats who concede rhetorical supremacy.

I’d still like to see more of this Lindsey Graham.
