Listen to What Mamdani Says About Funding for ‘Free’ Buses in NYC – RedState

Socialist Zohran Mamdani is now elected mayor of New York.
Unfortunately for the town, they’re about to find out what a bad decision they made.
Mamdani recently interviewed PIX11 News political editor and anchor Dan Mannarino, where he was asked about his plan for “free” buses and how he would pay for them. He was asked where he was going to find the $700 million he would need for the plan if New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) was not in favor of raising taxes.
Q: “How do you get the $700 million to make buses free if the governor is not in favor of raising taxes? »
MAMDANI: “By increasing the state’s corporate tax. »
Q: “But she said no…”
MAMDANI: “The most important fact is that we finance it, not the question of how we do it. » pic.twitter.com/rFiaHPAdSE

Mamdani said one solution was to increase corporate taxes. This will likely cause more businesses to flee the city.
The interviewer interjected: “But she said no.”
Mamdani also mentioned the personal income tax for those earning more than $1 million a year.
“The most important fact is that we fund it, the question is not how we do it, but that we do it,” he said.
I kind of think if you don’t know how you’re going to do it, that could be a problem. But it just kinda makes sense to me. I realize that when you’re a socialist, money grows on trees and falls from magical fairy skies with pixie dust, but for most of us, we have to figure out where our money comes from to support the things we want.
When you have a guy with a flawed ideology and, well, a really limited career path, maybe those are issues that aren’t real to him. And New York City chose that. They’re about to find out.
Not only would you lose bus revenue, but they would also become rolling homeless shelters. This is going to be problematic for riders and drivers. That’s assuming it ever happens and isn’t just something to hang up to get people to vote for him.
I can already hear from all the people who are considering moving. It’s ridiculous and it hasn’t even started yet.

President Donald Trump will meet with Mamdani on Friday and we will bring you updates on that. They’re supposed to talk about affordability. But if this is just a sample of Mamdani’s thinking, Trump will probably make mincemeat of it and serve it up as literal reality about how things are going to work. We will tell him unequivocally that New York cannot bypass federal law enforcement when it comes to illegal immigration.

Get out the popcorn, this promises to be a very interesting encounter.
