Liverpool’s lack of balance is creating entertaining chaos: How they’ve become the world’s team to watch
The size of the sample is small but two weeks in the season, it seems that Liverpool settled in a model for their defense of the title of Premier League – a distinctly chaotic defense, to be specific. They present each quality of a team that spent around $ 400 million this summer in transfer fees, abandoning almost all of their funds on attack players, regardless of the consequence. No tactical trend, however, is designed to survive innovation, which comes slowly but surely always. Managers focused on possession have recently become willing to give up control when the opportunity requests it, finding means to take the opposition to the devu without the ball. Possession is almost a consequence rather than a decisive characteristic.
Enrique is not alone in this approach either. The reinvention by Hansi Flick of Barcelona was built on the same idea. There are evolutionary clues of the old tactical trends rather than a rejection, among them the High Line which has been a must of the most elegant teams in sport for years, even if it is also the first drawback for opposite to the strategy. Barcelona lived and died by the sword last season, cleanses the leaves of rarity en route to the double domestic and the semi-finals of the Champions League. There was an argument to make so that defense changes were necessary; Jasper Van Leeuwen, a former scout for young people in Ajax, argued that a team like Barcelona needs a faster central back like Micky Van de Ven des Spurs.
Whether this tactical development occurs or not, however, teams like Barcelona and Liverpool find a way to survive by arguing that the best defense could be a stellar offense.
Liverpool, Arsenal and a season of thought experiences
The new reputation of Liverpool imbalance has already felt experienced, but there is always a feeling of excitation thanks to the shock value of the approach. Slot’s Liverpool is a direct stylistic contrast with Arteta’s arsenal, and the reconstruction of Guardiola with City could throw a fun wrinkle in the mixture.
Reds can benefit from the strengthening of their defense, even if the links with Marc Guehi de Crystal Palace have calmed down in recent days. Slot could also find a way to restore balance as the season continues, adding a feeling of stability to its team as the title charge takes place beautiful and really in progress. Liverpool, however, should not feel obliged to do such a thing. Sport needs a really equipped team to show whether this too attacker approach works or not, also silly. The incredible Liverpool imbalance can mean that their title challenge is doomed from the start, which is intrinsically bad news for all those who have an interest in rooting. The Reds, however, deserve the patience to give this unusual strategy the old college test. If people are lucky, it could work and encourage managers and sports directors around the world to build incredibly fun teams. If this is not the case, however, at least the masses will be treated with a banger of a match once a week for an entire season (and twice during a week of the Champions League).
