Leftists in the United States are seriously confused. As Iranians around the world celebrate the death of thug Ayatollah Khamanei, who ruled their country with an iron fist, American liberals condemn President Donald Trump’s war to liberate the Persian nation.

Opposition to the joint US-Israeli attack on Iran has been broad and swift, fueled in part by Trump derangement syndrome – if he’s behind it, they will reliably oppose it – and also tinged with anti-Semitism.

The smoke from the Iran bombings had not yet cleared when Democrats began shouting their objections, with Connecticut Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy, for example, calling them “dangerously illegal and a mistake of staggering proportions” and denouncing the president as a “wannabe dictator.” Murphy has also called Israeli policies in Gaza and the West Bank “immoral” and recently announced that he would not support additional military aid to Israel.

Anti-Israel Democrats in the House have been particularly vocal, with Michigan “Squad” member Rashida Tlaib posting: “It is clear that Israel’s genocidal government does not care about children or human life, including our own loved ones in the military.” » She also posted: “The Israeli government is addicted to bombing hospitals, schools and refugee camps, all of which constitute war crimes.”

Democrats have been moving away from their traditional support for Israel for some time, and especially since the far left took over their party. Axios reported in December that the DNC’s still-secret “autopsy” on why Vice President Kamala Harris was defeated by Trump in 2024 concluded that the former vice president “lost significant support due to the Biden administration’s approach to the Gaza war…”

Iran has brought nothing but bloodshed and destruction to Israel, the United States and the Middle East for decades.

That is, in sifting through the ashes of the 2024 election for clues as to why an inarticulate candidate who admitted she couldn’t think of anything she would do differently than the wildly unpopular Joe Biden caught fire, Democratic officials determined…that it was Israel’s fault! Democrats are learning quickly: their support for the Jewish state is rapidly waning.

It’s not just Democrats who are piling on. Criticism also came from far-right conspiracy theorists.

FROM MISSILES TO MINERALS: THE STRATEGIC MEANING BEHIND THE STRIKE IN IRAN

We also heard criticism from the completely unhelpful and anti-Israeli UN, with Secretary-General António Guterres condemning US-Israeli airstrikes against Iran and demanding immediate negotiations “to bring the region and our world back from the brink.”

Guterres oversaw a UN with “blatant anti-Israel bias, promoting one-sided and unilateral efforts to isolate and delegitimize the Jewish state,” reports the pro-Jewish group AIPAC. A bias that AIPAC can document and which, surprisingly, has “intensified considerably since the Hamas attack of October 7.”

Soulless European leaders stood aside, initially distancing themselves from the US-Israeli initiative. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer initially refused to allow the United States to use his air bases, forcing American jets to fly more than 20 hours to complete their mission. He then gave in, sparking mockery from all sides.

US AUTHORIZED TO USE BRITISH BASES FOR LIMITED STRIKES ON IRANIAN MISSILE CAPABILITIES

Of course, stupid students also weighed in, with Columbia University’s most famous anti-Israel group responsible for the “encampment” built last year to protest the Gaza conflict, displaying “Death to America” in Persian after the US and Israel killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. That prompted Sen. Tex Cruz, Republican of Texas, to demand that international students who send such anti-American messages be “expelled immediately.” He’s right.

One student protester told a reporter that the United States “should align with the Iranian regime rather than Israel because Iran ‘is not fascist.’

Zohran Mamdani, the new Muslim mayor of New York, harshly condemned President Trump’s war with Iran, saying: “Today’s military strikes against Iran – led by the United States and Israel – mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression. » He also said, “Additionally, I want to speak directly to Iranian New Yorkers: You are part of the fabric of this city – you are our neighbors, small business owners, students, artists, workers and community leaders. » The mayor assured them: “You will be safe here. »

Mamdani misread the room, assuming that Iranians living in the United States would react as he did to the attack on the mullahs. Instead, joyful Iranians gathered in Times Square to celebrate the end of one of the most hated and savage regimes in history.

IRANIAN-AMERICAN DEMOCRATIC “INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED” BY PARTY’S RESPONSE TO US-ISRAELI STRIKES

They apparently felt perfectly safe, and indeed they did.

There are certainly valid reasons to fear a military confrontation with Iran. The country is home to a massive arsenal of ballistic missiles, it has a well-trained and now vengeful army, and it can disrupt global oil supplies by exploiting the Strait of Hormuz. Furthermore, it is a large country of 90 million inhabitants; Iranian citizens may hate the mullahs, but they do not have the weapons to overthrow the theocracy.

But Iran has brought nothing but bloodshed and destruction to Israel, the United States and the Middle East for decades. There can be no peace or progress in the region as long as Iran continues to finance its terrorist proxies and stubbornly pursues its long-range missiles and nuclear bomb.

Democrats who mourn President Obama’s abandonment of the nuclear deal with Iran, protesting that the JCPOA prevented the regime from acquiring a nuclear weapon, surely know better. The agreement was seriously flawed, unverifiable, and from day one the mullahs prevented UN inspectors from carrying out the agreed certification of the agreement.

President Trump ended the mullahs’ reign of terror and united the region in a way no one could have imagined.

It’s a fair business. Let us hope that on the other side, a free Iran will become a reliable ally.
