Louisiana AG Liz Murrill Sues Gaming Giant Roblox for ‘Choosing Profits over Child Safety’

The attorney general of Louisiana, Liz Murrill (R), filed a complaint against the massively popular online game platform Roblox, accusing the company of not having implemented adequate security measures to protect its young users from sexual predators.
In a scathing trial posted Thursday, the prosecutor general of Louisiana, Liz Murrill, alleged that Roblox had created an environment where sexual predators can “prosper, unite, chase and victimize children” due to the lack of effective safety protocols. The prosecution, filed before the State Court, says that Roblox prioritizes the growth, income and profits of users on the security of its children’s users.
Murrill said: “Due to the lack of Roblox safety protocols, he endangers the safety of Louisiana’s children. Roblox is exceeded in harmful content and children’s predators because it favors user growth, income and profits on children’s safety. ”
Roblox, which has more than 111 million monthly users, is an online game platform that allows users to create and share experiences with friends in a virtual universe. While the company claims to have a “zero tolerance policy for the exploitation of minors” and prevents children under the age of 13 from discussing with other users outside the games without explicit parental authorization, critics argue that these guarantees are insufficient.
The Attorney General Murrill stressed that there is no process of verification of the minimum or age when users register, allowing young children, adolescents and adults to pretend to be children to easily create accounts.
Business Insider reports that Roblox, the online game giant of $ 90 billion, faces a growing legal storm concerning grooming allegations and allowing children’s predators to prosper. The company, which has a user base of almost 40% under the age of 13, has been criticized with at least nine prosecution this year accusing it of negligence and prioritizing children’s safety.
The last trial, tabled last week before a state court of Georgia by an anonymous mother and her 9 -year -old son, alleys that adult predators showing up as children have targeted and harassed the boy for months on Roblox. According to the complaint, these predators finally “extorted” the child to send sexually explicit images and videos to his friends to school, making him suffer from “devastating psychological trauma and which alters life”.
The trial maintains that if Roblox has even implemented basic verification and identity systems, as well as effective parental controls, the boy would never have been exposed or injured by the predator. Roblox has announced a new age check system in July, which includes an age estimate tool based on a selfie style video for users who wish to chat with “trust connections”. However, criticism argues that this measure is too little, too late.
This Georgia affair is only a many similar proceedings brought against Roblox in recent months. Florida -based law firm, Dolman Law Group, said that it is currently investigating more than 300 incidents on behalf of potential applicants. Another trial brought before the California Federal Court last month alleged that a 14 -year -old girl was prepared on Roblox by an adult predator pretending to be a teenager, who then attracted her from his home and tried to assault him sexually before the police intervened.
Breitbart News previously reported that Roblox had in fact threatened a YouTuber who caught children’s predators on the platform and exhibited them:
The Roblox game giant prohibited and threatened to continue a youtuber known for having faced alleged predators on the online game platform. Roblox, massively popular with children and adolescents, has a troubled past filled with grooming allegations and allowing predators to run.
Roblox sent to YouTuber 22 years old – who has 684,000 subscribers – an end and abstain saying that he has violated the conditions of use of the platform and community policies, according to a screenshot of the letter published by Schlep on his X account on Saturday.
Cess and desire accuses Schlep of engaging in “unauthorized and harmful activities on the Roblox platform”, which “directly undermines Roblox’s safety efforts and, critically, expose our users to an increased risk”.
Breitbart News will continue to report on Roblox.
