The Los Angeles Lakers held a press conference on Saturday to announce that Luka Doncic had accepted a three -year contract extension which will pay him $ 165 million. Having it signed to an extension was considered the most important element of their task list this offseason, and they did it on the first day when it was eligible to sign it.

Several of the Doncic teammates were on site for the supplier, just like coach JJ Redick. They were surely happy to know that the 26 -year -old superstar will remain in a purple and gold uniform for at least three years more.

However, the best and most important teammate of Doncic – LeBron James – was not present for the press conference on Saturday.

James has kept himself significantly for him so far this offseason after having decided to exercise his player option for the 2025-26 season at the end of June. His agent, Rich Paul, published a statement that said in part that the two “want to assess what is best for” the superstar at this stage of his career. Many interpreted this as a prelude to a possible request for trade.

Commercial speculation surrounding James has managed a little during the last week or two. However, all eyes will be on him once the training camp is starting, and as usual, he will be under the microscope while people analyze his body language and try to decipher what he feels at this time to play for the Lakers.
