M4 Ultra Mac Pro: 2025 release date, processor, specs, design

Apple updated the Mac Pro for the last time in 2023 when it was the last Mac to be equipped with a M. three -year -old chip after Apple began to use its own silicon in Mac. The Mac Pro can be on an update cycle longer than other Macs because it is an expensive machine with features that meet the needs of a niche audience.

What was announced in WWDC?

Apple has not revealed any information on the Mac Pro. But it revealed that MacOS 26 Tahoe. The operating system will share a unified design language with all Apple devices for greater continuity throughout the ecosystem. The appearance and sensation are known as the “liquid glass” and the accent on translucidity and the specular strengths gives the interface an attractive lifting.

Mac Pro M4: release date

Without new Mac Pro appearing in 2024, despite the arrival of the M4 Max, it seems that we will be stuck with the M2 Ultra Mac Pro until 2025.

The long wait is not surprising. In an April 2024 report by Mark Gurman de Bloomberg on Apple’s plans for his improved M4 chip in AI, he suggested that Apple would not update the Mac Pro before 2025.

In June 2024, Gurman again pointed out that Mac’s release calendar had not changed. The M4 Mac Pro is not expected before the second half of 2025. In August, Gurman reiterated that the M4 Mac Pro will be released in 2025.

On July 3, Appleinsider reported that a new Mac Pro is being developed received the code name J704.

Mac Pro M4: processor

In October 2024, Gurman reported that Apple “continues to work on an M4 version of the Mac Pro”.

In his April 2024 report, Gurman said that the Mac Pro would be part of Apple Focus AI and will be upgraded with an M4 with improved AI capacities. Gurman did not offer any details on how these IA improvements will be implemented or any other specification concerning the M4.

Since this report, Apple has unveiled the M4 chip, first in the iPad Pro, then in the iMac, Mac Mini and MacBook Pro. Apple has also published the M3 Ultra Mac Studio, making it the fastest mac in the Apple range. If Apple wanted to use the M3 Ultra in the Mac Pro, it would now have updated this Mac.

Although this is bad news for the M2 Ultra Mac Pro, it should mean great things for the M4 Ultra, which has been reported as the chip for the Mac Pro. We also know that it has an improved neural engine for the characteristics of the AI. Apple’s ultra and m2 ultra and m2 chips are essentially two maximum chips that work together, but there have been reports that Apple will modify the processor architecture, so that we can see higher performance than in ultra previous chips.

The information reported in December 2024 that in summer, Apple had canceled a “high performance chip for Mac” to focus on the development of an AI server chip. Mac Pro M4: Design and specifications

Gurman also indicated that Apple wished to considerably increase the maximum quantity of unified memory in the high -end office Mac M4 to 512 GB. The current limit of the M2 Ultra Mac Pro is 192 GB. Thus, the M4 Ultra Mac Pro could support the memory as M2 Ultra Mac Pro.

The Mac Pro will be equipped with Thunderbolt 5. When Apple has published the M4 Pro / MacBook Pro, it is upgraded to Thunderbolt 5, so that the Mac Pro will follow suit. Learn more about Thunderbolt 5.

No other report was made on the interior operation of the next Mac Pro. Because Apple wants to focus on AI, the Mac PRO could be marketed as an AI development workstation, so that Apple can upgrade other components to meet these needs.

The Mac Mini had a overhaul in 2024, which led to a much smaller device. Mac Pro has been design for 11 years, but no report has been made on the design, and if Apple changes anything, it is very unlikely that the Mac Pro is smaller because it did not work the last time.

The prices of the new Mac Pro have not been reported, although we expect prices to increase due to the situation of American prices – the components are made abroad.
