Drake Bell, a former child actor who found the reputation with the sitcom Nickelodeon “Drake & Josh”, accused the network of not paying his stars.
Bell, 39, said that he and the co-star Josh Peck had never received residues for their program, which took place for three years on the network focused on children before his last episode broadcast in 2007.
The actor, who had previously revealed alleged abuses he had suffered by working for Nickelodeon, tackled what he said was a false idea in the world of entertainment.
“It is the perception of the world – it has always been like that: it’s like, you know:” Oh, you have advertised folgent coffee. You have to live in a mansion in Hollywood. I saw you on television, you are rich “, said Bell during an appearance on” The Unfanned Podcast. “

“This is far from the case. And especially – which is the disappointment of most of us on Nickelodeon – we do not get residues for our programs.”

Bell noted that most networks pay residues from actors for the work used after its initial race, but said that Nickelodeon offers only a single payment to the actors.
Host Matt Howard wondered if the network tried to take advantage of the stars because of their age, to which Bell said: “Continue. Continue to try to understand it.”
“It’s a lot of evil and corrupt people … that’s the answer,” said Bell. “There is no other answer. Make everything they do mentally and emotionally, then we throw the wolves. And we say to ourselves:” Okay, cool. I was rented this month. “”

The sitcom, which has also received television films in addition to video games and books, is still popular with the public, said Bell.
“There are three channels that make” Drake & Josh “marathons. Netflix has just bought it, it’s the Top 10 on Netflix, and I must understand how to pay my rent this month,” said Bell. “And a big cat with a cigar is just sitting at the top of Viacom … It’s just like doing the workforce.”
He continued: “We put in all these works. This company makes billions with a” B “out of us, and we are paid for the work week, cool, but that’s it. And forever, perpetuity, he literally said in the contract, through universes and galaxies and planets.
“If Elon [Musk] brings us to Mars and they show “Drake & Josh”, it is impossible for me to get paid. “”
Nickelodeon representatives did not immediately respond to the request for comments from Fox News Digital.

The documentary “Quiet on Set” was presented in March 2024, covering most of the time of Dan Schneider in Nickelodeon. As a showrunner, Schneider would have led a toxic workplace, discriminated against women writers within the staff and made requests for massage of employees on the set.

The most alarming complaint of the documentary came from Bell, which detailed the allegations of sexual abuse against Brian Peck, an actor and dialogue coach hired by Nickelodeon.

“I was sleeping on the sofa where I usually slept, and I woke up with him … I opened my eyes, I woke up and he gathered me sexually. And I freezed myself and I was in shock and I did not know what to do,” said Bell. “And I didn’t know how to get out of the situation … What should I do, call my mother:” Hey, can you come and get me? It just happened, I will sit here and wait. “I didn’t have a car, I didn’t drive.
He continued: “The abuse was vast. And he became quite brutal, quite brutal. I don’t know, I really don’t know how to really develop the camera.”

When he was asked by a producer of what he would feel comfortable talking, Bell said, “Why don’t you do that, why don’t you think about the worst things that someone can do to someone like sexual assault and that will answer your question. I don’t know how to say it. It was not a unique thing.”
