Republican Representative Andy Ogles decided Monday to exclude an entire American religious community.

“Muslims have no place in American society,” Ogles posted on. “Pluralism is a lie.”

The Tennessee congressman has a long history of bigoted comments. He said America “I should kill them all” last year regarding the Palestinians in Gaza. He called for sending pro-Palestinian student protesters in Gaza last May, and used 9/11 footage to attack Zohran Mamdani before being elected mayor of New York.

In November, Ogles made a series of anti-Muslim comments on his Restoring the Republic podcast, saying, “The only thing they can do is basically come into our country and force their way through our society, and I hate saying that, it’s harsh, it’s going to offend someone, so what? Wake up.”

What prompted Ogles to post anti-Muslim bias Monday morning is unclear, although a protest outside Mayor Mamdani’s New York City residence on Sunday may have had something to do with it. Anti-Islam provocateur Jake Lang showed up with about 20 protesters outside Gracie Mansion, only to be greeted by 125 counterprotesters. Among them were two people allegedly inspired by ISIS who were arrested after launch homemade bombs that did not explode.

If that’s not what motivated Ogles’ attack, it could be the war in Iran, or something from one of his four Muslim colleagues in Congress, particularly Rep. Ilhan Omar, whom he attack in the past. Maybe he should be more worried about federal investigation opened in his campaign finances or in the increasing fact-checking of his lies on his journey. Ogles should at a minimum be censured by Congress, but intolerance toward Muslims in America is unfortunately considered normal, especially within the Republican Party.
