Mamdani’s Socialist Grocery Store Plan Based on Funds That Do Not Exist

The controversial plan of the candidate for the town hall of the town hall of New York for grocery stores belonging to the city is embarrassing on the basis of an “accounting error”, revealed the examiner of Washington in a recent report.
The Democratic candidate defended his idea for the socialist markets by saying that they can be funded by the money saved in the reduction of the city’s subsidies to “business grocery” – but he misunderstood the city’s amount of money.
“We will redirect the funds of the city of corporate supermarkets to grocery stores belonging to the city whose mission is a drop in prices, and not prices,” said Mamdani in a video:
He said five grocery stores would cost $ 60 million and rely on expanding food retail to support the health program (costs).
“This should be compared to the existing city program called City Fresh, where they should spend $ 140 million, subsidizing business grocery stores … So we take less than half of the money that the city is already ready to spend and provide results,” said the candidate.
There is a small problem with this plan – Mamdani obtained this figure of 140 million dollars by marying the city’s web page, Tim Carney reported: the examiner:
The city’s economic company estimates that grocery stores have invested $ 140 million in their own money thanks to the new program. Mamdani has the $ 140 million in private expenses as public spending.
This money was not invested by the city, but by “business grocery stores”.
In reality, only around $ 30 million in tax alternatives were granted to stores as part of the program over the same period of 12 years.
The graphic of the city’s website that Mamdani seems to have misunderstood was hung by an X user:
A campaign spokesman insisted New York Post That Mamdani’s mathematics were not mistaken, saying that part of the socialist grocery plan would be paid with the fresh funds of the city, the rest coming from the rich.
