A man was arrested after a car shooting in an ABC affiliated television station in Sacramento, police said.

Anibal Hernandezsantana, 64, was arrested early on Saturday and accused of crimes which includes shooting in an occupied building, the assault with a deadly weapon and the negligent discharge of a firearm, said the Sacramento police service in a statement. He was sentenced on Saturday in the main prison of Sacramento County and released in the afternoon after losing a deposit of $ 200,000, said spokesperson for the Sacramento County Sheriff. Amar Gandhi.

Friday, around 1:30 p.m. local time, the police responded to reports from Broadway block 400, where ABC10 television station is located. According to the police. After the shots were fired, the vehicle left. The building was occupied at the time of the shooting and no one was injured, police also said. ABC10 is an ABC affiliate and held by Tegna.

The shooting occurred one day after demonstrators demonstrated outside the station about the program of Jimmy Kimmel in suspension indefinitely by ABC. It is not known if there is a link between the shooting and the suspension of the show or the demonstration, and the police told NPR that the reason was under investigation.

Tegna is grateful that their employees were unharmed and are safe, a company spokesperson said on Saturday. The company also maintains increased security in ABC10, said the spokesperson.

Journalists and organizations condemned the shooting, including the chapter of journalists from the National Association of Blacks Sacramento, who called the “heartbreaking and unacceptable” shooting.

“As journalist colleagues, members of the Sacramento chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists want to be clear: violence against media members is violence against our entire community,” the organization said in a state -of -the -networks. “Our hearts are with those affected, and we call on the whole community to join us to raise, support and protect the journalists who serve you every day.”
