Man City’s Bernardo Silva: ‘No one wanted’ Club World Cup exit

Orlando, Florida – Bernardo Silva rejected the suggestion that the early release of Manchester City from the FIFA club World Cup could be a disguised blessing and said “nobody wanted a vacation”.
City was dropped in the round of 16 by Al Hilal on Monday after an exciting match in Orlando.
This means that Pep Guardiola and his team returned home two weeks before the final in New York on July 13.
If City had reached the end of the tournament, they would only have four weeks to rest and prepare for the start of the Premier League on August 16.
City will now have an extended break, but Silva – which had only five days off between the end of last season and the club World Cup after playing for Portugal in the League of Nations – insists that players do not want free time.
“No one wanted to lose, nobody wanted a vacation anymore,” said Silva.
“We are very used to not having a vacation unfortunately because the calendar is crazy.
“But when we are in competition, we take it very seriously and we had a lot of ambition for this club World Cup and we wanted to win it.”
When asked if the feeling of getting out was similar at the end of the Champions League, the 30 -year -old said: “Yes, a little, yes.”
City is expected to return to Manchester from the Boca Raton training base in Florida on Tuesday.
Silva said that players did not yet know how long they will get, but that the team would be ready to start its Premier League campaign when they will face the wolves in Molinine on August 16.
“We don’t know [the schedule] However, “he said.
“We know that when we start the Premier League, we will try to rest as much as possible, but also come back to prepare the season properly.
“It’s not my job, it’s the manager and the work of his staff to prepare the players, two or three weeks, whatever. But we are going to prepare for the season.”
