Marmonte League media day: Watch out for these two sack masters
Quarterbacks of the MARMONTE LEAGUE, beware. During Friday football media day, it was pointed out that Izak Simpson de Sim Valley and Matthew Perez of St. Bonaventure are preparing to make their senior years even more memorable in the dismissal of the quarters.
Simpson arrives with 29 career bags in the past two seasons. Perez had 15 bags in the second year and 10 as a junior. It is a 54 combined bags.
The story of Simpson is quite inspiring. As a first year, he did not play football. He played basketball JV when football coach Jim Benkert, managing the dashboard, noticed how he was and asked why he was not playing football. The rest is history.
Simpson went to 6 feet 3 and 260 pounds with a commitment to the state of Sacramento and a dream he never imagined – playing in the NFL.
“I didn’t know I could reach the level in which I am,” said Simpson. “I am excited what the future can be.”
Benkert said: “Oh my god, he is unwanted. There is no slowdown. He practices full speed.”
Perez obtains a new training from the old defensive rear of the NFL Troy Hill in St. Bonaventure, and will be a key player for the seraphs.
If you want a surprise favorite to win the league, try Oxnard Pacifica. Coach Mike Moon said he had the most depth in 13 seasons as a chief coach.
There is a lot of firepower with the talented juniors Isaiah Phelps and Alijah Royster. And the junior quarter-rear Taylor Lee gave a glimpse of his talent with a six-hit match against Camillo during the replacement of the injured start. A Newbury Park game against Pacifica on September 5 should say a lot.
