The Justice Department is recruiting attorneys to become “eviction judges” with salaries up to $207,500 and a 25 percent signing bonus.

The agency’s recruiting website encourages applicants to “help write America’s next chapter” by joining the immigration court system. The campaign offers positions at 70 locations across the country with remote work potential and full-time telecommuting options.

New federal employees can benefit from the recruiting incentive if they are placed in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Sacramento or several other major cities, according to the DOJ website. The message calls on judges to “make decisions with generational consequences” and “ensure that only foreigners with legally sound claims are allowed to stay.” It also asks candidates to “fight fraud” and “restore the integrity and honor of our nation’s immigration justice system.”

Attorney General Pam Bondi promoted the campaign in an X-post Monday.

“The Trump administration is fighting every day to resolve the immigration crisis left by the previous administration,” Bondi wrote. “We have made historic progress, but there is still work to do. »

Bondi called on “patriotic lawyers” to apply and noted that both full-time and part-time options were available.

The recruiting drive follows the Pentagon’s September announcement that it would deploy 600 military lawyers to serve as temporary immigration judges. The move came after a DOJ rule change allowed temporary judges to serve without prior experience in immigration law.

Immigration courts currently face more than 3 million pending cases. A White House official told The Associated Press that the administration views the backlog as a “priority that everyone — including those waiting for a decision — can rally around.”

The Justice Department did not immediately respond to The Daily Caller’s request for comment.
