Media Shows You Don’t Hate Them Enough With Hot Take on Karoline Leavitt Comment About Trump Interview – RedState

You have to love traditional media and their lack of objectivity.

And by that I mean no, and they deserve to be called out for their bias at every turn.

There’s a story that came out Sunday morning that concerns the CBS interview that Tony Dokoupil did with President Donald Trump.

The New York Times obtained audio of the moments following Trump’s interview with Dokoupil in Michigan on Tuesday, which included Leavitt’s warning, on behalf of the president, not to cut the tape.

“He said, ‘Make sure you don’t cut the tape, make sure the interview is broadcast in its entirety,'” Leavitt said, according to the audio.

Dokoupil responded, according to the recording obtained by the Times: “Yeah, we do, yeah.”

“He said, ‘If this isn’t fully published, we’ll sue you,'” Leavitt continued, according to the outlet.

The New York Times noted that it was probably a joke.

The Times reported that some CBS staff members present thought the remarks were meant as a joke.

Dokoupil responded to Leavitt with humor and said: “He always says that!”

Kim Harvey, executive producer of “CBS Evening News,” was heard saying, “Oh, great, OK!”

CBS said they always intended to air the entire interview.

But the New York Times continues to present this as an attempt to dictate to the media if they “do not obey his orders.”

This is a ridiculous take. They don’t care that CBS has had a history of problematic edits and that even though there is now a change at the top with Bari Weiss, the concern is legitimate. Not only was there the controversial Kamala Harris interview, in which one of her word salads was edited during the campaign, but there was the 60 Minutes article on the CECOT prison in El Salvador that would have aired without a current comment from the Trump administration, despite the fact that the administration provided a comment. Weiss enhanced the play for this reason, but it was broadcast in Canada.

But the Times’ version shows how bias remains a problem in some media outlets. If it’s a joke, why are they treating it like it’s “orders”? Plus, shouldn’t they show the entire interview, and doesn’t Leavitt have every right to make sure they do? CBS is trying to do the right thing by airing the whole thing and letting people judge, rather than editing and crafting a narrative. And what would be wrong with wanting the full interview? It’s a weird version of the Times. How dare the White House and CBS think that nothing should be hidden from the public?

Trump has shown time and time again that he is not afraid to give interviews, even with hostile media.

So if the Times thought this was going to make Trump or CBS look bad, it didn’t. This makes the Times look bad.
