Meta exposé author faces bankruptcy after ban on criticising company | Meta

A former Meta Executive who wrote an explosive presentation making allegations concerning the relations of the social media society with China and its treatment of adolescents would be “on the verge of bankruptcy” after having published the book.

A deputy told Parliament that the company of Mark Zuckerberg was trying to “silence and punish” Sarah Wynn-Williams, the former director of global public policy at Meta’s Precursor, Facebook, after her decision to express herself from her stay at the company.

Louise Haigh, the former Labor Transport Secretary, said Wynn-Williams was faced with a fine of $ 50,000 (£ 37,000) each time she raped a guaranteed prescription by Meta preventing her from speaking with disorder of the company.

New York magazine previously pointed out that Wynn-Williams had been paid for the book of more than $ 500,000 (£ 370,000).

Haigh underlined the case of Wynn-Williams in the House of Commons during a debate on employment rights on Monday. She said that Wynn-Williams’s decision to express himself had plunged her into financial danger.

It is understood that the figure of $ 50,000 represents the damage that Wynn-Williams must pay for the material violations of the separation agreement which she signed when she left Meta in 2017. Meta stressed that Wynn-Williams voluntarily concluded the non-prresion agreement in the context of her departure.

Meta said that to date, Wynn-Williams had not been forced to make payments under the agreement.

The company did not wish to comment on the intervention of Haigh. He previously declared that the testimony of the Wynn-Williams Senate was “divorced from reality and riddled with false complaints” on China and the treatment of adolescents by the company.

Meta described the book as a “mixture of sheltered complaints and previously reported on the company and false accusations concerning our leaders”. He said that she had been dismissed for “poor performance and toxic behavior” and that an investigation concluded that she had made allegations of misleading and not founded harassment.

He said the decision preventing him from publicizing the memories confirmed that the “false and defamatory book should never have been published”.

The decision said Wynn-Williams should stop promoting the book and, since it could, stop the greatest publication. He did not order any action by Pan Macmillan.

Wynn-Williams has not spoken in public since its appearance at the Senate hearing in April. In a written statement this month, she said she was grateful that the US Senate continues to investigate Meta’s behavior.

“I would like to be able to say more,” she said. “I urge other employees of technology and those who think of denunciation to share what they know before more children are injured.”

His lawyer confirmed that Wynn-Williams “remains silent on the very question that the Congress investigates, despite clear and unanimous votes of the Congress calling for Meta to put an end to their arbitration procedure which threatens to go bankrupt”.
