Mets not concerned that top pick once mimicked cocaine snort on field

Mitch sees had a lot to celebrate on Sunday after being selected by the New York dishes in the first round of the MLB 2025 draft.
There is a good chance that the celebration is not like that now infamous that the former interior field player of Michigan played in a match against the USC on March 16 in Ann Arbor.
With two withdrawals at the bottom of the second round, sees a blow in the central field for a triple of three points which gave the Wolverines an advance of 5-0. While he was still on the ground after plunging into the third goal, saw decided to celebrate the feat in a rather curious way.
He lowered his nose to the basic chalk and seemed to imitate sniff cocaine.
The bizarre celebration video has become viral and sees apologized in a statement published on social networks the next day.
“I would like to apologize for my actions on the third goal yesterday,” wrote see. “I made an immature decision in the moment of the moment. The gesture I took does not reflect my character, the cleaning in which I was raised or the M block that I represent in any way. I take full responsibility for what I did, and I am really sorry for all those I affected negatively by doing this. ”
See was not punished by the Wolverines.
“Mitch is a big young man and immediately apologized for his actions in the heat of the moment,” said Michigan athletics spokesman David Ablauf in Athletic in an email on March 18. “As a department of athletics, we did not think that it was necessary to issue a discipline.”
Addressing journalists on Monday, the vice-president of amateur scouting Mets Kris Gross said that the organization had made its reasonable diligence on the issue leading to the project.
“We talked to him earlier in the spring and the combine harvester on this subject,” said Gross. “And basically, you know, it’s a young guy, it’s a warmth of passion, it’s a big match. He made a big game for his team and made a mistake. And he apologized for this and returned it, managed it with class.
“We have done a ton of research afterwards with several sources on its makeup. We know that it is not a problem and we feel comfortable with Mitch to move forward.”
See was a bidirectional player in his first two seasons in Michigan, before undergoing an internal operation of the splint on his right elbow in the spring of 2024. While the second Wolverine base player in the 56 games of this season, sees 0.346 with 14 circuits and 60 products produced, with more walks (40) than sticks (34).
“He made a lot of progress, this is his first year to focus on the strike,” Gross told journalists on Sunday.
“When you depreciate it, you sit there and you start checking all the boxes. He checked them all. “
