Microsoft adds setting to disable AI sharing in Windows 11 taskbar

Microsoft is testing a new Windows 11 feature that lets AI assistants access app windows in the taskbar.
The feature, called “Share any window on my taskbar with a virtual assistant,” lets you share a specific window with, say, Copilot without manually starting a traditional screen share. It was first spotted by prominent Windows data miner @phantomofearth:
When a window is shared in this way, the AI assistant gains the ability to read visible content, summarize information, provide suggestions, and visually guide you through actions. However, the AI assistant cannot take control of the application: for now, it is only a reading and support layer.
The feature is optional and disabled by default. It can be enabled or disabled completely through Windows 11 settings.
